Today, I accidentally came across your web site while searching through the Internet for medical terms I do not understand. I wished I had came across your web site earlier before I enrolled into another MT school. Three more lessons, I will be finished with my MT course. I still have not much confidence when transcribing the "operative report". I am very impressed by your supportive commitments. I do wish I have enrolled with your service when choosing an institute that offer training as well as support when required.
I know I need more practices before I have the full confidence to do a good job and it is hard to get a place that offers training. Thank you for your time and attention to the matter.
Regards,
Florence C

Deborah:
I am not sure if you remember me or not - I am Lisa H. I took your course about 15 years ago and worked for you too. You also helped me land an incredibly good job at Southwest College of Naturopathic Physicians.
I have been thinking about doing some transcription again after a long hiatus. I have been a stay at home mom, enjoying traveling with my husband, etc. Two daughters in college and two weddings later (!) I am ready to transcribe again.
I was wondering if you have any contacts in the Dallas area or any suggestions as to which route to go. I understand that around here they use a lot of agencies and it is really difficult to work for yourself.
I have always trusted your opinion and am excited to see that you are still at it!
Thanks in advance. Hope all is well with you and your family!
Lisa H.
Hey Lisa! It was wonderful to see you again. I enjoyed meeting Jordan. You can be very proud of her. She's a lovely young woman. It was good to catch up on your adventures. I am impressed by you, your family and all you have accomplished. Being a mom is a high calling!
There are plenty of openings in your area. You can pursue your own clients or work for a company like ours (we're interested, if you want to consider Deborah's Touch again).
I would recommend obtaining a wav pedal. Look through the workbook
that I gave you. On page 10, there's a listing of equipment that will
be useful. I would suggest the all-in-one from Martel.
By ordering it, you can play around with it. It's very similar to your transcription machines, but will work with internet-based files. I can send you a file to practice with, once it's installed and you are familiar with using the pedal.
Don't discard your transcription machines! There are still many small clients in your area that use tapes. Maybe you and Jordan could work together!!!
Keep in touch. You're an excellent MT!

Debra, I really enjoyed your workshop. There was a lot of information in a very short time. I do have a question.
I work full time as a librarian and was looking toward being a part time MT in retirement but I have a problem.
I have been working on the Career Step course for over a year. I am finding that I am going to be paying for a
lot of extensions ($100 for each six months) because I just don't have the time and I am rather burnt out at this point.
I am thinking of quitting. When you quit with Career Step, you have to start all over again, which I would not do.
With the outlay of cash that I have spent on this course, I can say that it has helped me with medical reference at
the library. I just can't say that I want to continue paying extensions if the course is not going to result in a job.
What do you think of Career Step? I wish I had known about your program.

Hello Deborah. Hope you remember me. I took your course approximately 14 years ago, have referred many people your way,
and attended several of your seminars. Still typing away...
I am writing to ask if you know any transcriptionists in the East Valley who may need some extra work. I
am in need of some help and if you have any names you could pass my way they would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

I have begun going through the materials rapidly in your fabulous course...I am very pleased with your program,
it is very thorough, yet no-nonsense (which is what I need at my age and state in life)!

You know, it's funny that you should mention flushing the toilet. I was at [name omitted]'s house tonight for a session
on what to expect for finding a job, etc. and E. mentioned that she had a doctor that would go use the bathroom while
he was dictating...and she talked about the flushing of the toilet too!! That is hysterical that the two of you would
talk about that at the same time!! :-)

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for everything you did for me and for your patience with my proofing. I also wanted to tell you that I am starting a job with Globespan on Monday. I have had three companies contact me for employment and this is the one that I accepted. Once again, thank you.

It has been a long time since I said hello. I certainly hope that all is well with you, your family and the business.
Question for you - Christi and I know a young woman [name omitted] who approached us about how we got started in medical transcription. . . We told her all about you, your business and the program, gave her your website and encouraged her greatly to go this route. Unfortunately (now), she had already purchased an on-line program from [name omitted]. She has been working diligently through all the material and is approaching her final. I had assumed she purchased the entire program, but just found out that all she had purchased was part 1, the terminology portion. She has yet to purchase the transcription portion and just this week asked me about purchasing the second half from you. I told her that you also sell your program either as a whole or in two parts, terminology and transcription.
When [name omitted] mentioned that [name omitted] would charge her a huge (lifetime) fee to become a subcontract worker for them, I truly sung your praises. I told her about the accounts Christi and I have had, the courier service as well as your desire to locate more accounts willing to take advantage of today's technology (digital). . .
I think that covers it for now. I haven't mentioned it for awhile, but thank you again for all that you did to get me (as well as Christi) going, allowing us to contribute to our family finances from the comfort of our own home. There is nothing like it!
God bless,
Terrie S.

Good Morning. I started your course and am STILL working on it, but wanted to thank you again for the quality of this
material. I recently had an interview for a transcriptionist's position with a local hospital, and feel
that because of working with your course, my knowledge and typing speed have increased appreciably. I have accepted a
posiiton with a Dr.'s office instead, small office but possible potential to use the transcription and billing and
coding knowledge. Thank you again for the time it took to put this course together. I WILL send the hard copies when I
get it all transcribed.

Hello,
My name is Tahirah, and I have been enrolled in an MT course since January 2007. I am taking an expert course where you have the opportunity to take the certification exam. However, I have found this course to be extremely difficult and the teachers non attentive. I do regret taking this course; however, it is too late for a refund. I would like to continue in this medical transcription and wondered if your program was as difficult, and if you could give me some information. Is your class an online class or do you have actual textbooks to study from? I find myself studying for hours at a time making mistakes on every practice test. I really wish I had done my research before agreeing to an online class. Is there any advice you have to offer me?
Thank you very much,
Tahirah
Hi there! I have received many e-mails exactly like yours. I can sympathize with your predicament.
It is absolutely unnecessary to become certified. Most medical transcriptionists are NOT certified. Very few medical office personnel even know what it is or care one way or another. Don't take my word for it, though. Check the help wanted ads on-line. Anyone looking for a good MT requires one thing: hands-on work experience.
Learning medical transcription does not have to be difficult. Our
program starts with very simple workbooks. There are
fill-in-the-blank writing exercises to help you become comfortable
with medical terms. The writing section is one-third of the program.
The main part of our training consists of live, hands-on transcription
from our doctors and clients. The dictation starts very simply and
gradually grows in complexity.
When you review our references (see the website: www.medtranscription.com), you're going to recognize how superb our
support is. Since we are actual medical transcriptionists and a
medical transcription service with clients throughout the U.S., you
have the best of both worlds: knowledgeable experienced MTs and a
large company that offers work to those who have successfully
completed our program. We know how to start and operate a medical
transcription business from your home, because we've been doing it for
22 years! You will also notice our track record. We didn't start
yesterday. We have a steady, reliable support system and there is a
common theme from our former students: fabulous support, follow-up
and on-going, prompt assistance.
Our course is one of the least expensive and most comprehensive. And
we need more good MTs!

Hi Deborah, thanks for your reply. I did have a conversation yesterday w/someone at the company I am working for. I am coming along and doing well, but I think part of the problem was the training at the local school I received was not adequate and thorough enough to be successful in this field... I really wished I could have met you and known about your training before all of this. Thanks and good luck to you as well.
